Welcome. I am a 25-year old youngster from Leiden, where I have been studying English language and culture, European Union Studies, and Law.
In the academic setting of Leiden University I tend to broaden my experiences to the utmost. I have been active in several students associations as well as civil society organisations, in several of which I performed an executive and cofounding role.
Beside studying I currently work at Leiden University's department of Constitutional and administrative law. Last November I started as junior researcher in a research project commissioned by the Ministry of Safety & Justice concerning efficiency improvements in the law-making process. Our Leiden University research team will perform comparative research in other European countries and finally report on 'best-practices'.
Previously, I assisted in setting up the Leiden Expert Group on State Aid (LEGSA) and worked on several other projects at this department. I've also been a tutor of first-year students at the Law Faculty.
Side-projects include the Cleveringa committee which I cofounded together with several alumni of Leiden University, and the Gelderse Academie project. Currently I am setting up a student branch in Leiden of the NGO Niños de Guatemala.
In the past, I was member of the Leidse Studentenraad (Leiden Student Council), an independent advisory council representing the students in providing policy advice to the University's Executive Board.
I have worked at Incasso Partners Nederland (a debt collecting agency operating worldwide) and at Yes Telecom (a mobile service provider for businesses). For years now I have been creating websites through my sole proprietorship SilverFlux.
As a member of the social liberal political party D66, I aim to bring into practice my knowledge of the European Union. In March of 2010, I was a candidate in the municipality elections in Leiden (we became the biggest coalition party). I'm volunteering as member of the permanent campaign committee and support some city councillors.
Representation and management are a few of my hobbies, as you may have concluded from the above. I work with great accuracy and prefer quick communication and action. I am enterprising, responsible, and aim for the best. (No doubt I have some fun faults as well :)
Furthermore, I enjoy playing tennis, running, rowing (being outdoors), watching documentaries and movies, and having a few drinks in good company.
